Last Day To Review Property Tax Rolls For St Tammany!

Today is the last day to review of your Property Tax rolls for all of St. Tammany Parish Properties.  Property owners may look at their property value, as assessed by the St. Tammany Assessors office, at their website stpao.org or by visiting the assessor’s office during regular business hours.

Covington Location – Courthouse at 701 N. Columbia St.

Slidell Location – The Towers Building at 520 Old Spanish Trail

State law states that a public inspection, in which homeowners may review the information that the Assessor’s Office uses to assess your property value.  The inspection is to give the taxpayer the ability to review the data and verify its accuracy prior to the tax rolls being generated.  Once the roll gets certified, sometime in October, it will be too late to make any changes.  After that, the only way to request a change will be to submit it to the Louisiana Tax Commission.

If you do not agree with your property assessment, you may file for a review. You can acquire the application for review in person or online.  You can mail your request for review to the assessor’s office or e-mail it to assessorreview@stpao.org or fax it to 985-809-8190.  With today (September 14th) being the deadline, it is encouraged to act fast.

After a review, if a property owner is still unhappy with their assessment, you may appeal to the Parish Council.  The deadline for appeal is September 26th.  All home owners requesting appeal must file an assessment review prior to requesting an appeal.  Appeals to the Parish Council can be at the office located at 21490 Koop Drive, Building A, just north of Mandeville.

The assessor’s office comes up with the assessed values for all St. Tammany properties.  Those values will be used and the tax rate assessed in accordance with the current millage.  Some tax rates, which are determined by various taxing bodies across St. Tammany, have increased this year.  Additional information on the millage increase or decrease will be available when you check your assessment on the assessor’s website.
